Capt Charles Perkins of York a longtime steamboat pioneer and tow boat master famed along the Atlantic coast passed away. The Herald faced a Friday rush, expanding from 1 to 16 pages by 3 50 PM as local ads missed deadlines. Management urged merchants to allow more time for better ads, noting carriers struggled with the larger, double-size editions and apologizing for yesterday's missing ads.

Washington December 13 Major General Patrick chief of the Army Air Service told the house aircraft investigating committee that recent attacks off the Virginia Capes showed that bombing planes must be developed to carry heavier bombs. He said American planes are as capable as others but become obsolete due to heavier modern battleship armor.
