Private Alfred R Newall Jr son of Mr and Mrs Alfred R Newall of Wakefield Street Rochester was killed in action in Italy on October 13. Born July 30 1912 in Concord he attended Concord schools and later studied in Quincy Massachusetts. He moved to Rochester in 1837 and worked in defense before enlistment. He served overseas since 1942 in anti tank units and took part in North Africa Tunisian invasions. He is survived by his parents a sister Miss Naomi Newall of Boston and his father an advertising manager at the Rochester Courier.
Rabbi Joshua Liebman of Temple Israel warned at a Massachusetts Episcopalian club meeting that rising U S anti-Semitism makes Jews more self aware and could aid Hitler by waging a psychological war. He urged recognizing anti Semitism as a multi cause disease and that harm to one harms all to prevent its spread.
