The probate court in Rockingham County heard multiple will cases. Marion T. Brewster of Stratham and Donald A. Chase were proved and executors named. Daisy E. Ford of Exeter and John A. Simpson of Hampton were also proved with executors designated.
The foreign will of Irene Yvolowey of Boston was admitted and Louis Cyr of Amesbury named administrator, with Anthony Cogswell of Plaistow as agent. In Hayden M. Brown and Margaret N. Richards of Springfield, VI. Accounts were allowed for Myrtle M. Bickford of North Hampton and Grace E. McAllister of Exeter. Licenses to sell or transfer securities were granted for George T. Cogan of Portsmouth, and licenses to sell real estate were granted for Mildred I. Leavitt of Exeter. Licenses were returned for Julian J. Elliott of Epping.
Concord New Hampshire. Sen All B Jacobson chair of the municipal laws subcommittee said a public hearing will be held Thursday at 11 am in Room 100 State House on three bills. They cover change of municipal fiscal year to July 1 to June 30, twice yearly tax collection, and shifting town meeting day from March to September. The subcommittee studied 10 towns borrowing 43,402,000 in 1969 for tax anticipation, costing 1,333,844.71, with projections suggesting borrowing near 2.4 million dollars and rising borrowing costs over 15 years. Factors cited include uneven tax receipts and higher interest rates now at 4 to 5 percent. Jacobson urged broad public and local official input and noted potential for discussion of alternatives for all citizens.
In Southern York District Court several motorists pleaded guilty or innocent to speeding and related offenses. Notable cases include Raymond Ratick fined 201 dollars for speeding 63 mph in a 35 zone on Midge Road York Beach, along with multiple defendants from York and Kittery facing fines from 15 to 150 dollars for offenses such as operating under the influence and uninspected vehicles. Other offenders from Saco Portland and Concord appeared, with fines ranging 20 to 40 dollars and one appeal to the January York County Superior Court.
Exeter Police responded to an accident at Wigh Street and Portsmouth Avenue at 7 40 p m on Thursday. Mary Turner 40 of Portsmouth said her foot slipped off the brake, hitting Alice Grenier 40 of Exeter whose rear was damaged. Grenier reported minor back pain and would see her physician. A second crash occurred at the bandstand at Water and Front Streets involving Joan Willard 28 of Atkinson who stopped for a pedestrian pass when a car driven by Maurine Rochefort 63 struck the rear.
