Associated Press reports ten Fascist bombers attacked Madrid in the heaviest raid of four weeks of siege. At least 20 people were killed as explosions and fires hit the Arguilles sector near the U.S. Embassy. Fires destroyed San Jose Hospital and many residential blocks as incendiaries spread through the city.
Concord Dec 5 Alphonse Roy of Manchester was declared the duly elected representative from the first New Hampshire district by a 17 vote margin over Arthur B. Jenks after an eight hour hearing and three and a half hour executive session. Roy 51695 Jenks 51678. Recounts in Ward 4 and 11 not pursued. Disputed ballots and outside district ballots were reviewed with most counts not altering the result. The vote stood 51654 for each after excluding disputed and stray ballots.
A cordial invitation is extended to the Italian Colony to attend a social at Peirce Hall Sunday evening December 8 at 7 pm. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. All Italians are urged to attend.
Traip Academy celebrated a five win, one loss, one tie season at a testimonial banquet in Kittery. 17 lettermen received white sweaters. Coach Slayton and Lieut. Campbell spoke as committees and a turkey banquet were arranged by local supporters.

Alfred H Rand 36 opened a wall paper and paint store at 70 Fleet street last month. He died after his car crashed into a parked semi trailer on Rice's Bridge in York. Rand, formerly of Auburn and Lewiston, is survived by his widow and two children.
Vatican City Dec. 5 Pius XI aged 70 known as the Pope of the Conciliation was struck by paralysis in both legs and likely may not walk again. He remains in bed under care as officials say the condition stems from high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis. No medical bulletins were issued and all his scheduled activities were cancelled.
Santa Claus will come to Portsmouth next Saturday and be greeted by the local business section from then until Christmas Eve. The jolly figure, beloved by youngsters during prior Yuletide seasons, will be welcomed again. The visit is sponsored by the Merchants' Committee of the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce.
