Concord officials and New England Telephone and Telegraph Company workers presented evidence to the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission arguing the firm needs a 6.0 percent rate of return on its plant investment to fund a large expansion. Auditor Francis P. Bishop projected a required annual amount near 996,400 for 6.0 percent, rising to about 1,000,200 with 1954 expansion. He estimated 1954 revenue at 11,062,000 with net income around 843,000 after expenses and taxes. Bishop noted advertising and investment had surged since 1947-52, and Richard W. Sullivan of Needham, Mass. outlined income deficiency supporting the request.

Service Road May Up Property Value Along Toll Highway
Concord The Governors Council heard a report that a special service street along the new toll road extension at Portsmouth would lift property valuations by about 500000. A layout commission urged spending 120000 on a 11 mile service road to avert 90000 in threatened land damage litigation.
