Weather permitting San Diego to dock Yokosuka about 1030 am. Nimitz to move flag to Missouri Sunday as allied dignitaries witness Japan's formal surrender.
Ira A. Brown, former county commissioner and city councilman who was a mayoral candidate last year, says he will run again this fall. Rabbi Oscar Fleishaker, longtime Temple Israel Portsmouth leader, departs Saturday for the West Hartford Jewish Center new post. Lt. Robert W. Ellis of York Beach Me is recommended for the Silver Star for gallantry after taking command of his ship USS Braine during a kamikaze attack off Okinawa on May 27. The 1941 Bowdoin graduate and Bowdoin College alumnus served aboard the USS Arkansas earlier and now awaits official word as the Braine undergoes repairs in Boston Navy Yard.

Mayor Mary C. Dondero asks Assistant Secretary of the Navy John L. Sullivan to make USS Portsmouth a port of call in Portsmouth New Hampshire. The cruiser built in Newport News and fitted at Portsmouth Virginia could dock at the city yard piers. The mayor proposes entertainment programs for the officers and crew if granted.
