Experts: Sharks not hungry for beachgoers off York Beach
Seacoast experts say recent basking shark sightings near York Beach pose no threat to sunbathers. Dr. Gregory Skomal, a Massachusetts fisheries biologist, notes basking sharks reach up to 35 feet, feed on plankton blooms, and are docile toward humans, with the area briefly closing then reopening after two confirmed sightings. Other nearby sharks include porbeagles and blues, common off Maine and New Hampshire, typically about 12 feet, following schools of fish and plankton near shore.

Bayview Crematory Owners Charged In NH Tax Case

Allegiant Air to trim flights at Pease with season schedule
After talks with the Pease Development Authority Allegiant Air will keep service at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease but cut to a seasonal schedule. The airline has operated four weekly round trips to Orlando area since last October and will maintain the Orlando service until September 20 before resuming November 20 with twice weekly trips to Orlando Sanford International.
