More than 1000 gallons of the city's used cooking oil and grease have been recycled over two years. In March 2006 the city began collecting oil in a 1000 gallon tank at the recycling center. Green Bean Bio-Fuel Co. refines it into biofuel heating oil and diesel. City officials emphasize easy participation and environmental benefits, noting reduced plumbing and wastewater issues. Residents are asked to bring cooled oil in clean containers to the center behind the public works facility at 680 Peverly Hill Road. staff will assist pouring into the tank.
