Furious gale along North Carolina coast rages at 60 miles
A tropical disturbance pushed a two edged gale down the North Carolina coast with winds near 60 miles an hour. An unknown tour master schooner fought heavy seas off Gull Shoals near Manteo as Coast Guard crews watched from the beach. The vessel anchored a mile from shore yesterday and drifted closer overnight amid heavy tides Kitty Hawk to Cape Hatteras. The Weather Bureau placed the storm center about 150 miles off Cape Hatteras with rain in the misty weather.
