Little brown bat found on Portsmouth sidewalk released safely

In Portsmouth a tiny brown bat rested on State Street. Employees moved it away and called animal control. Officer Patricia Tate released the healthy bat next day, noting bats help control insects. DOD makes final appeal to save Portsmouth shipyard

A week before BRAC votes, the Defense Department releases a 92 page letter to BRAC Chairman Principi arguing for closing Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Federal building subdivision OK'd for Pease complex

The Planning Board approved subdividing about 12 acres at 40 Oak Ave off Corporate Drive for a new federal complex at Pease International Tradeport. The subdivision moves to the Pease Development Authority for final approval. PDA's Dave Mullen says the land will sell for just under $2 million. Project manager Michael Williamson said design could start soon after sale approval and a GSA architect is tentatively chosen.
