Valle's Restaurant Fire Damages Kitchen Await Investigation

A five alarm blaze tore through the kitchen of Valle's Restaurant near Yale's Steak House just before dinnertime Friday. Firefighters evacuated 59 patrons as the fire, believed to start in a meat broiler, was confined to the kitchen though the dining room suffered water damage. No loss estimate was immediately available.

Charles C Heuchele Dies After Long Illness in Manchester

Charles C Heuchele 73 of Post Road died in a Manchester hospital after a long illness. Born March 24 1890 in Yonkers NY he was a grocer for many years and an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow Kathryn Jancen Heuchele two brothers Alfred of Foxboro MA Arthur of Whitehall NY and three sisters Agnes Fink of Yonkers NY Frode Peterson of Peekskill NY and Divothea Hearhole of Peekskill NY.

Mrs Riordan of Manchester Dies at Royal Hospital

Mrs. George Riordan mother of Portsmouth attorney Francis F. Riordan died Thursday at a royal hospital after a shot illness. She was born in Manchester, daughter of Napoleon and Alber tine Morency. A St Age's Church communicant, she leaves daughter Mrs Sohn Lenehan, two sisters, a brother, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Train collision near Bethel station misrouted passenger car

A passenger car with its own diesel engine hit a freight car on a siding near Bethel station after diverting from the main line. Jeff Norwalk was aboard the freight moments earlier. A New Haven Railroad spokesman said the freight was stored beside a warehouse and the passenger train should have stayed on the main track.
