Thieves Target Marine Buoy Bells In Downeast Maine

Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol probe seven thefts of metal buoy bells used to warn mariners. Bells, often bronze and bolted to buoys, cost 400 to 1500 dollars to replace and could bring a 2500 dollar fine or a year in jail. Local stations have increased patrols as officials link thefts to possible resale to nautical shops or scrap yards.

Child man arraigned in youth counseling case
