Battles Outside Saigon Report Heavy Fighting and Air Strikes
U S troops guarding southern approaches to Saigon fought Viet Cong at two points nine miles apart with heavy action at times. Nine miles north near Rach Kien a battlefield involved more than 100 enemy troops and 1 000 American troops landed by helicopter. In another engagement about 15 miles below Saigon, a 9th Division force reportedly wiped out a platoon of roughly 40 Viet Cong. Casualties on the American side were low with three wounded.

Saturday USS Dolphin Commissioning At Portsmouth Navy Yard
The USS Dolphin, a 930 ton deep diving test submarine, is set for commissioning at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Saturday. Vice Adm Elton W Greinell and Rear Adm Roy S Benson will participate. Lt Cmdr John R McDonnell will command the 23 man crew during the ceremony before trials and post commission tests. The Dolphin, 152 feet long, will join the Atlantic Fleet submarine force and later undergo reconfiguration and further modifications.

Four Injured In Dover Blaze
Ten persons left homeless and four firemen injured in a Dover apartment blaze. Patrolman Maurice Driver rescued Mrs. Sarah Gale and her dog from the burning structure. Authorities said the fire, of undetermined origin, broke out in the upper part of the building. A garage attached to the structure was damaged. In Nashua, the Nashua Hotel was damaged, occupants unharmed, as Police Sgt. Gerald Dube was overcome guiding guests to safety.

Accidents Kill Five In State
Five people died in New Hampshire weekend accidents. Dennis Roy sixteen of Laconia died from injuries after a car crash in Gilford on Morrill Street. Bruce McCox twenty one of Quincy Massachusetts was killed at the New England Dragway when his dragster left the track at over 115 mph. His wife Janet twenty and brother John fifteen witnessed the crash. Police from both towns investigated the incidents. In Eaton Marshall French was also involved in the reported fatalities.
