Washington August 3 AP House Republicans plan to present a definite program for 1940 on housing agriculture and reciprocal trade as alternatives to Administration measures. Minority Leader Martin will likely appoint special committees to study each subject and draft legislation. Some fear farm-area agreement will be hard to reach while other points face uncertain futures as Congress may press spending curbs.
Salvage crews at 240 feet off Portsmouth push toward a second lift of the sunken submarine Squalus. Concord August 8 AP A new all time boat registration record for New Hampshire stood at 4,317, according to the public service commission. Officials estimate registrations may reach nearly 5,000 before the season ends as the boating season continues.
