Hanover Police Row Faces Final Arguments This Week

AP dispatch from Hanover reports a dispute over misconduct in the Hanover police force. Suspended officers Andrew Fergus and Ralph Provencher face final arguments at 4 p.m. Wednesday before Louis J. Bressett, amid allegations from Jean Leagill and Mary C. Naruslo that rape, intrusion, and improper advances occurred during a drunken night. Wives accompanied the officers as the incident dated July 7 is reviewed.

Hampton officials hear plan to attract tourists to New Hampshire

Alan V. Evans, director of New Hampshire's Division of Economic Development, will speak at Hampton Beach Mire Station tonight about state plans to lure tourists for the New York World’s Fair. The legislature allocated 324,000 for NH’s share of the fair project and a promotion program aiming to draw 10 million visitors annually over two years.

Math Supervisor Named in Maine

The State Department of Education named Stanley P. Brown of Augusta as the new supervisor of mathematics succeeding Clarence W. Bennett who resigned for a post in Broghline Massachusetts. Michael P. O'Monnell of Caribou will replace Brown in educational television duties.

Old York Improvement Society Meeting Next Tuesday

Trio Electrocuted on Illinois Farm Near Mitchell

Three youths from Glen Carbon Illinois were electrocuted on a farm near Mitchell Monday while moving litigation pipe. Names identified as Richard Slemmer, W Shatz Jr., 16, and Bill Henry, 20. State police said the long pipe contacted power lines above. Two other youths had minor burns and were treated and released.

Pilgrim Fellowship Camp hosts nephews of Newington residents

The Pilgrim Fellowship Camp in Pem Orike hosted nephews Rob ert Hislop of Los Altos and Mans Clark of Lexington, Mass. Deborah Moore Nor Iman Beant and John Mazea joined the group spending the week. Mrs Harold Frink and Miss Sally Frink have returned home after visiting friends and relatives in Nisett, Mass.

The CAB approves consolidation of Northeast routes to Augusta Waterville and Manchester Concord, NH, and orders Presque Isle to Houston service start Aug 26. Northeast’s certificate will be amended to drop Fittsfield and Fitchburg, MA, with redesignation of Gaconia and Regkland for seasonal service. Mohawk Airlines must keep Rutland, VT service. Maine Lawyers Hear Forte at Bar Association Meeting

An APS report notes the 101st Maine Legislature will be discussed at the Maine State Bar Association annual meeting in Rookland from August 27 to 29. Associate Justice Felix Forte of the Massachusetts Superior Court will speak on the 26th just before officers are elected. The text recalls the first services at St Marys Catholic Church on April 18, 1774.

A NLRB trial examiner ordered Hillcrest Poultry Co of Lewiston Maine to desist from unfair labor practices for refusing to bargain with Local 385 Amalgamated by the NLRB. The examiner found the union duly certified as bargaining agent after a February 16 election for production and maintenance workers.

Augusta schools mark moment of silence in classrooms

Augusta public schools will observe 30 seconds of silence at the start of each school day after a Monday night board of education decision. The rule replaces the Lord's Prayer and Bible readings that were used before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled religious exercises illegal in public schools.
