Three men are killed and one injured in an explosion and fire at Richards & Co manufacturing chemists in Stamford. The blast, blamed on static electricity igniting alcohol fumes in the dehydrating department, caused about 35000 dollars in losses. Car Skids and overturns on Lafayette Road
Six people were involved in an auto accident on Lafayette Road near Well-Thurs. The Holbrooks of Grove Beach Conn and Mrs Owght Holbrook traveled to Bar Harbor when their car skidded off the highway and overturned. All occupants were treated at Portsmouth Hospital. Dwight Holbrook suffered a severe scalp laceration. The wrecked car was towed to Hislop's Garage. Staff Sergeant Willibald Nowak led the 168th Infantry band of the Iowa National Guard and served in World War I Germany.
