A premature detonation of a large dynamite bomb filled with covered figures occurred during the Madonna del Anco feast in Mount Vernon New York just after midnight. Several people were seriously injured many knocked down and the crowd panicked as fireworks display ended.
Washington August 3 dispatch from Gen Salazar governor of Panama reports battle still being fought desperately. Officials await official information about the contest that began Tuesday at Agua Dulce when revolutionists attacked the place.
President Roosevelt and family spent a quiet Sunday at Sagamore Hill, no official visitors, attending services at Christ EpIscopal church. A severe thunderstorm then swept Tong Island. Guests for tomorrow include Mr and Mrs Whitelaw Reid.
An excursion train of eleven coaches and about seven hundred passengers on the Ann Arbor line wrecked six miles north of Cadillac this morning. A dozen people were injured, some seriously, but, as far as known, no fatalities.

Professor W J Lewis of Portsmouth was assaulted and thrown against rocks in a troubling incident. Authorities investigate the attack and possible motives while the victim receives medical care.
The York Beach clerk at Lyman Hastings, a top aquatic performer, began a routine swim from York Cliffs. On his return he was hurled against rocks with force, bruised and nearly exhausted after landing. Waves broke house high near the cliffs, making his escape a narrow one.
Sunday proved the busiest day in police circles with seventeen arrests for drunkenness and about twenty prisoners locked up that night. Nine sailors, returning from a sailors picnic near Maplewood Avenue bridge, were drunk and involved in a fight that ended when police arrived and escorted them to the station.

Chaplain Curtis H Dickins, ordered to report for duty at the navy yard on August 25, is the first Universalist clergyman appointed chaplain in the navy and the only one of that denomination currently holding the post. He previously pastored the Universalist church of Portsmouth and was ordained there before joining the navy. No chaplain has served at the yard for over twenty years since the Sabine s loss and the apprentice training school’s discontinuation.
The Exeter Veteran Firemen's association met in its new Water street home on Friday evening. The Fountain cleared 210 feet with a full crew on the brakes as interest in the group revived. County Solicitor Scott swore out warrants to seize liquor at Edward Cote of Linton and Mrs Georgiana Martin of Young street.
