Two young priests died early today when the car they rode in was struck by a trailer truck on Route 1 near Route 9B in Wells Maine. Rev Robert Faucher 30 and Rev Marel Joseph Clairmont 28 were killed. Miles S Dickinson 36 of Bangor the truck driver was uninjured.

Damage Suits Filed Over Hampton Beach Fireworks Injuries
Two damage suits for 45 000 each were filed in Rockingham County Superior Court by Worchester Massachusetts father and others seeking damages for injuries to his daughter from a defective firecracker after a Hampton Beach fireworks display. Florence Torraing allegedly was struck by a tin receptacle top when the unexposed firecracker exploded on a lodging house porch, causing permanent disfigurement. The suits name Hampton Beach Chamber of Commerce and Joseph Messere, agent of Rockland Fireworks Company of Boston, as defendants. The incident is dated September 2, 1948, the day after the public display.
