A telegraph from Jomsoe reports the Stella Polare returning with the Duke of Abruzzi's Arctic expedition on board. The ship reached latitude 86.33 north, surpassing Dr. Nansen's previous record.

Misplaced switch causes freight passenger collision at Saco

A head on collision between a Portland to Biddeford passenger train and a freight train on the Boston and Maine Western division at Saco station disabled both engines and damaged several cars. Engineer Tibbetts of the passenger train was slightly injured and about a score of passengers were shaken up but unharmed. The accident was caused by a misplaced switch.
