Rev Elwood Scott of Carthage Indiana reports severe nerves from overwork led to a year of rest. He tried Paine's Celery Compound and says he is almost well now, able to eat and digest normally without head pain, and has resumed his ministerial duties.
Local notes show Saturday outlooks with fair conditions after morning rain and coastal snow near Maine’s coast. Washington reports partial clouds with weekend winds shifting westward. Portland entries list barometer readings, thermometers, humidity and temperatures with clear conditions and a 24 hour precipitation total of zero.
H G Dun & Co reports March trade outlook with New York exports for four weeks up 6.7 percent from last year, cotton gains smaller locally but overall exports may become the nation’s largest. Wheat exports drop, four-week failures total 10.85 million dollars, with 205 weekly failures in the United States.
From Ladysmith a dispatch notes a civil case against the postmaster of Pestermaritzburg for alleged breach of contract over turning private letters to military authorities. Judgment expected tomorrow amid high interest.

National President O Connell Reid and Roderick call off Chicago action, referendum to be held tomorrow. Arbitration board to include the presidents of national bodies and two others. Pawtucket Macrae notes Rev George J Bloomfield receives a call to a new pastorate and related matter.
New York promoter Jos Walcott faces confusion as a light heavyweight bout with rival Waelterweight names drifts through a chaotic March event. The muddle surrounds weights, eligibility, and match arrangement amid ongoing athletic disputes.
London dispatch reports Lord Roberts’ army about 21 miles north of Bloemfontein after a stiff engagement that cost 700 British casualties. Boers used three kopjes as a base for raids. Roberts deployed 4000 cavalry and 4000 infantry to force the position. Two days of rapid moves are planned with forward strikes on Boer positions as the main army converges along the railway line.
Bloemfontein reports warn women and children to leave within five days as Kruger plans bombardment and execution of captured burghers. Measures clash with guerilla bands of Transvaal Boers.
