John H. Williamson of Grand Island California, age 73, reports using Paine's Celery Compound as a spring medicine to restore energy. He says it strengthens nerves stomach liver and kidneys and that taking it makes him feel as if he does double work.
Washington reports conferees on the Porto Rican appropriation bill agree to a compromise. The Senate receded from limiting the appropriation to revenue through January first and restored future revenue language. The money is allocated for the President to use for government needs and relief, public education, works, and other governmental purposes in Porto Rico under existing law.
Gov General Davis received telegrams from towns across Puerto Rico urging a speedy settlement of tariff questions in Congress. Demonstrations occurred at multiple points, including a San Juan gathering led by the Chamber of Commerce. Cabinet discussions yielded no major new plans on Porto Rican tariff. Secretary Root authorized Davis to employ surplus labor on public works in Puerto Rico, with a War Department order to implement.

Michael Melley Rune alias Jack Kelley of Providence aged 41, a local pugilist, was killed Monday night by Maine Central train No 8 at the Androscoggin Bridge in Brunswick while drunk. Sheriff Ballou of Sagedahboo will hold an inquest Wednesday forenoon.
San Francisco report states Captain Stone and about twenty men from the wrecked City of Florence were saved by the tug Alert two miles north of Point Pedro this afternoon and brought to the city. Wreck occurred last night ten miles south of Point Pedro.
