Reston weather bulletin dated July 26 reports fair conditions on Friday and Saturday. Light variable winds are expected, with pleasant temperatures and no precipitation anticipated.
Portland reports cloudy conditions with a maximum temperature of 71 degrees and light winds. Humidity remains high with a dew point around 60, barometer near 20.88 inches, and no significant precipitation noted in the observed period.
The Weather Bureau record for July 26 at 8 PM lists temperatures from 64 to 80 degrees across cities including Boston New York Philadelphia Washington Albany Buffalo Detroit Chicago New Jersey and Paul with varying wind directions and clear to cloudy conditions. A St James picnic near Halifax left thirty people poisoned after eating canned goods. Most will recover with J B Patton of Halifax among the ill. He is described as better this morning.

London notes last Saturday the Chinese minister Sir Chi Chen Lo-Feng-Luh delivered a long telegram said to be from Emperor Kwangu calling Great Britain's good offices to broker peace on terms similar to those sent to President McKinsey and President Loubet. The government has not replied, citing doubts about the telegram’s origin amid current anomalous circumstances.
Hong Kong Daily Express dispatches from London recounts a horrific incident in Hen Sien Fu Fu An where an Italian bishop and three priests were executed after revolting tor tures. Six converts were said to be massacred while women endured brutalities. Six priests reportedly fled to hills and may have been killed. one escaped by hiding aboard a river boat for seventeen days.
Reports from Canton say the Triads, an anti foreign and anti Manchu society linked to the kindred, are mobilizing Canton troops and plotting a break in Shiameswood. A Chinese man arrested July 8 for carrying arms is charged with Triad membership and held leadership ranks in the two Kwangs with Sai Kung as headquarters.
Shanghai correspondent says Li Hung Chang states some legation members have left Pekin and may come soon. Skepticism among consuls grows. Americans upset over Goodnow's talks with Li but defend actions as following orders. Trade in Shanghai falters. customs revenue may fail to pay next foreign loan installment. It was announced that litigation over the estate of Dr Thomas W vans, Paris' American millionaire dentist, has been settled. About 81,000,000 will go to the heirs and 5,000,000 to establish a great dental institute in Philadelphia.

John Dorn was wounded in the leg amid chaos. A streetcar passenger was shot dead, name unknown. A 76 year old Black man, Baptist Thilo, was beaten and nearly killed near Kelerra and Dauphinstresta.
