A group of 15 Prudential Life Insurance Co agents held a banquet at the Falmouth Hotel last evening. The gathering featured a pleasant social time and discussions on topics relevant to the company’s business.
Sheriff Pearston uncovers key Saco clues in the Gorham murder inquiry. Graffam seen in Portland after visiting Kelley. overcoat pawned in Saco December 4 tied to Graffam via Wentworth store. Edward Kelley, a Saco resident, interacted with Graffam and provided details leading toward Portland. Coroner to resume inquest as new witnesses testify and clothing evidence undergoes examination.
Last evening the Past Grand Odd Fellows Association was organized at Odd Fellows ball with 41 members present. Officers elected: President Andrew J. Cummings, Vice President Nathan KL. Nedlon, Secretary J. H. Henry, Treasurer John N. Head. A by laws committee was chosen to draft rules. Next meeting will set by law details and weekly meeting time. Authorities expect at least 200 members.
The will of the late Annie Longfellow Pierce of Fortland has been filed for probate. It bequeaths to her sister Mary L. Greenleaf the furnishings of the residence on Congresa street, to Anna L. [incomplete].
Reports from Machiasport Maine describe Brig Raven sold to Frank Littlefield of Portland for scrapping after a dozen years at a west Machias berth. Bath ship State of Maine under Captain Colcord called from Hongkong for New York. Colcord aided three Chinamen during a Hongkong typhoon, two others drowned. The will dated November 2 1823 among Wells of Unambridge Massachusetts bequeaths one thousand dollars and a half interest in real estate sale proceeds to Bien t Longfellow and allocates two thousand in trust, with half the real estate sale proceeds to them. The remainder goes to Lewis Pierce of Portland as executor.
Funeral services for the late William Russell were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence on Veranda Street East Deering. A large delegation from Hocky Hill Lodge of Knights of Pythias of Woodfords attended. The rites were led by Reverend A. A. Verhune of Clark Memorial Methodist Church Woodfords and Washington Avenue Hast Deering. Music was provided by Portland soprano Lizzie M. Brown, who sang Homeland Jesus Lover of My Soul and One Sweetly Solemn Thought.
Rev Father Carey native to the city was ordained in Hoston on Monday by Archbishop Martinelli the papal delegate to the United States. He celebrated his first mass at the Cathedral yesterday morning and will preach at the late wings next Sunday with Father Fahey as celebrant.
