Leavenworth Kansas January 15 Fred Alexander a negro who allegedly attacked Miss Kya Hovb and was linked to Pearl Forbes murder was seized from state penitentiary guards by a mob and burned at a courthouse yard stake. The mob of about 80 to 90 seized the prisoner, forced entry to the jail, and after dragging him to the stake, poured oil and set fire. Alexander claimed innocence while the crowd demanded a confession. John Forbes, father of the murdered girl, lit the match. Gov. Stanley condemned the lynching and ordered militia ready. reward offered for attackers.
