The case is linked to melancholy and isolation following financial or employment strain. A later brief notes a similar jealousy murder in Tehuantepec.
The British steamship Minister of Marine sailed from Liverpool on December 8 carrying coal and petroleum to Rio Janeiro. A fire broke out far at sea and she was towed by the Irish tanker Ballycotton to Belfast Lough. She will probably be scuttled to extinguish the blaze among the coal. the crew were landed.
