Train wreck near Pomona leaves several dead and many hurt

Pomona California December 25 a broken wheel on the engine of the Los Angeles bound local caused a wreck. One person died and several were badly injured with many others suffering serious wounds. The coach overturned and caught fire leaving unnamed dead and a list of casualties including residents such as Monroe Mrs Rose O sor Milian.

Texas Arrives With Maine Heroes Remains in Port

The battleship Texas reached Newport News with the dead from the Maine disaster. Remains will be moved to a Chesapeake and Ohio train for transfer to Washington. In Arlington cemetery, ceremonies are planned after arrival at midnight. Chaplain Fr Caldwick will accompany the bodies.

Arlington to bury Maine dead with private rounds

Remains of the Maine victims arrive in Washington and will be interred at Arlington cemetery Thursday at eleven in a ceremony led by President McKinley with cabinet members and military officers present. Chaplain Chidwick will conduct rites. 106 caskets include identified and unidentified bodies, with private burials for 22 relatives and graves at Arlington for the rest.

Tracks Torn Up In Rutland Central Vermont clash

About 50 Rutland railroad workers clashed with 75 Central Vermont employees over a Lake Champlain bridge project. Several Central Vermont track rails were torn up and Rutland telegraph wires cut, halting communications with Rutland.
