The McAll Mission Auxiliary met Tuesday afternoon led by President Mrs. A. Lue. They announced plans to raise $2000 more this year with the Portland Auxiliary to contribute. Resolutions honored Mrs. K. P. Chase, former vice president, noting her faith and service, and expressing sympathy to her husband. The note also advertises Portland Sunday Times subscriptions.

Funeral services held for Jonas M Hammond of Sidney
The remains of Jonas M. Hammond were laid to rest at his Sidney residence with a large local attendance. The service was led by Reverend Stevens and included Masonic rites by Hural Lodge 63 F and A M. Hammond was the father of J. M. Hammond of the Simmons and Hammond firm in this city.

Witnesses testified she folded a piece of crash into her handbag while at the counter. she claimed it was accidental. Judge Robinson imposed ten dollars in fines plus costs. Marine fish arrivals surge with 60000 pounds marketable catch
Yesterday's fish landings totaled about 60 000 pounds with strong prices. Vessels arriving included the Martha D McLain 10000 and Mary E Hagan 10000 pounds while others carried 8000 to 12000 pounds of halibut and cod. The Boston schooner Maggie Ellen delivered clay for pottery and several ships and tugs moved in or toward Portland for cargo or repairs. A sunken Sea Bird is being raised and redeployed for repairs. The Spring Point lighthouse upper works began, and the Steamer State of Maine arrives for winter repairs with St Croix expected to operate route.

Maine's Madison Square Exhibit Opens March 18 1897
Miss Cornelia T Crosby of Phillips nicknamed Fly Rod will head Maine's fish and game display at Madison Square Garden for one week starting March 18 1897. The Maine exhibit draws large crowds and has impressed New York press. The display includes a log cabin a large mounted moose head and a special car transport for a giant mountain moose with guides from Aroostook Moosehead Mt Katahdin and Dead River regions. E B Starboard of Brunswick will photograph Maine wildlife and over 100000 circulars will promote Maine's fish and game potential.

The last spile was driven in the Grand Trunk elevator foundation by Ward’s crew, with over 2500 spires set. Concrete piers are complete and carpenters will begin the superstructure next week. Engine house and chimney foundations follow, with a 125 to 180 foot iron stack planned. Weather and tides slowed progress, but no material delays occurred. The project is deemed satisfactory to Grand Trunk.

Tragic Self Inflicted Shot Ends Courtroom Drama
In Fall River Massachusetts Benjamin Greenberg a 47 year old member of the clothing firm Tettlebaum Smotenski Greenberg shot himself in the right temple in the district court building after being cited as the defendant in a bastardy suit brought by Elizabeth Moscovitch. The pistol report disrupted the morning session and Greenberg died almost instantly. the complainant was overwhelmed by the sudden ending of her case.

Apple export boom surpasses last season early
Boston reports that the apple export season is ahead of last year with hundreds of thousands more barrels shipped abroad. Last week alone 154 605 barrels were sent, and since opening in August total shipments reached 816 041, well above 189 166 in the same period a year ago. In Kennebunk, Fred and Alfred Loulaville, ages 18 and 16, drowned after breaking through ice on the Mougam River while skating yesterday afternoon.
