Weather bureau notes show morning readings with barometer 30.070 inches, temperature 48, dew point 40, humidity 63 percent, wind from east at 5 mph, conditions cloudy. Evening readings record barometer 29.88 inches, temperature 51, dew point 49, humidity 9 percent, wind SW at 12 mph, rain. Day’s high 53, low 42, mean 48, wind peak 295, 24 hour precipitation 0.30 inches.

In Hallowell on April 18 a fire largely destroyed George F. McClenoh’s machine shop a two story wooden building. About eight o clock the blaze started in the west end of the second story and spread rapidly. Loss is estimated at 15 000 to 18 000 dollars with partial insurance. The shop was among the city’s oldest industries with first floor used as a machine shop and the attic storing lumber and patterns.
In Raleigh on April 18 the party list estate convention nominated State Sabot and instructed its delegates to vote for W. Bevan for President at the National convention.
