Roosevelt County Courthouse Icon of Portales Art Deco Era
The Roosevelt County Courthouse in Portales, built in 1938 with New Deal funds, is a landmark designed by R E Merrell of Clovis. It showcases Art Deco features including casement windows with thunderbird and Zia motifs, marble interiors, terrazzo floors, and a bas relief of settlers and an Indian guide.
