Portales adopts 2009 building codes may raise home costs
Portales City Council approved the 2009 New Mexico building codes on June 7, introducing an energy efficiency code that could add 3 000 to 8 000 dollars per new home. The energy code focuses on heating cooling insulation and lighting with effect starting July 1.
