The Triple L Band from the Miller family performed at Oasis State Park in a seventh annual Old Tyme Music Concert. Despite looming storms, the audience enjoyed the weather-friendly set with Amy Miller joking about rain while Cheryl Hinrichs from Floyd tapped along.
Floyd resident Sherry Fahrenkrug and her granddaughter Maggie Abernathy from Hobbs enjoy bluegrass at Oasis State Park Old Tyme Music Concert. The event raises money to buy supplies for the park's fishing derbies and Fahrenkrug notes her granddaughter also attended the Floyd Jamboree earlier this year.
Clayton Barber of Portales Roosevelt County volunteers for girls baseball, basketball and volleyball. He says he helps because the future lies with the kids and it is the right thing to do.
Roosevelt County reports a cattle rustling case prompting New Mexico Livestock Board action. Jose Bailon and Jeannette Bass face 11 felony counts including eight larceny charges and tampering with evidence after a May 18 booking. Bass confessed to stealing cattle and selling them in Texas, with more claimed.
The report notes 108 absentee mail out ballots for the Roosevelt County primary. It also recalls that in the 2008 presidential primary, 640 voters cast early ballots.
The Roosevelt County Road Department will apply chip seal to North Roosevelt Road N from Baseline Road to U.S. 70 on Tuesday. The road will close to through traffic for most of the day and motorists should seek an alternate route.
