Hurst Named Head Of Queen Isabella Days
Robert Hurst will head the 1975 Queen Isabella Days celebration with Helen Adams announcing. He is Merchants Marine Bank board chairman and will lead a forming board for the event with Fred Joyce assisting the chamber. Commemorative bottle and medallion committees are active with limited medallions and pewter medallions available. The second bottle edition in amethyst is ordered for sale, joining popular patches and first edition items.

Coast Guard Building Dedicated on South Padre Island
The Coast Guard Station on South Padre Island inaugurated a new 12 100 square foot all purpose building completed ahead of schedule after planning since 1971. It will house 36 guardsmen with offices berthing and a recreational room as well as a dining area. A history talk by Eddie Valente and remarks by Mayor William H Neukomm highlighted the ceremony where Rear Admiral Winfred W Barrow was guest speaker. The Bicentennial Heritage Committee provided a display and the Silver Tarpon Band performed.

Isle Council To Hold Special Emergency Meeting
The South Padre Island Board of Aldermen will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall in executive session to interview an applicant for town policeman after Patrolman Johnny Lee Gray resigned last week. The town police force has four officers providing 24 hour protection.

Graduation exercises for 81 Port Isabel High School seniors are set for Friday May 30 at 8 p m at Tarpon Stadium. Dr Barry Thompson of Pan American University will be guest speaker. Valedictorian Leticia Cantu and Salutatorian Milinda McNelly. If weather prevents outdoor ceremony, it will be moved to the school gymnasium.

District Names Louise Leslie Office Manager and Bookkeeper
Santiago Fonseca announces Louise Leslie as bookkeeper and office manager for Cameron County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1. Port Isabel received notice that its $88,000 Community Development block grant was approved by HUD. Mayor Leo Sanders noted the application was first filed in February and resubmitted in April, with notification from Congressman Kika de la Garza. Funds will aid street repair and housing improvements.
