The School District will start a summer recreation program in the High School Gym on June 6, running weekdays 9 to 12 until July 15. Kindergarten to eighth grade may enroll. registration is Friday, June 3, 9 to 12, with a signed permission slip. Activities include recreation, tennis, track, and swimming with age based schedules.
Estella Smith retires after twelve years as Point Isabel High School librarian. She has 28 years in education, 20 in Texas and eight in Louisiana, with most Texas time in Port Isabel. She began at Derry High School in 1960 61, teaching English and serving as librarian, then became full time librarian in 1965.
