Port Isabel junior tailback Travis Sanders rushed for 1676 yards in 10 regular season games to break Port Isabel and Valley rushing records, surpassing Handel Woods. He also set a Valley single game record with 323 yards against Santa Rosa and became the first 32-AA rusher over 1000 yards. Sanders credited his line and coaches and expressed pride in fans' support.
