New Constitution Proposal Finished by Texas Revision Commission
The Constitutional Revision Commission completed the new Texas Constitution text to be proposed to the Legislature on November 1. The 37 members spent seven months drafting a document about one fourth the length of the 1875 constitution, with many obsolete provisions removed or moved to statutes. The Legislature will convene as a Constitutional Convention January 8 to review the report before voter approval at an election.
