Graduating seniors from Port Isabel High School were celebrated at a Sunday breakfast hosted by Our Lady Star of the Sea church National Council of Catholic Women at the El Toro Drive In cafe. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Storey Mrs. Helen Cail John O Gorman and other council members. Father Lawrence J. Fanning OMl attended briefly before leaving for Mass in Los Fresnos.

Open House Honors Seniors at High School Event
Mrs. Lewis Browder and Mrs. FE Goree honored Norma Lou and the senior class with a Wednesday morning open house from 10 to 12. Refreshments included cake and punch in the dining room. A lace tablecloth, china sailfish centerpiece, and white and blue flowers framed the display. Punch bowl and cake stations were set, cakes topped with a graduate and diploma. About 50 high school members attended.

Senior Girls Are Honored With Tea
The Senior Class girls were honored Friday with a tea at the Marlin residence hosted by Mrs. Floyd Bobbitt and Mrs. Flem Marlin. Guests arrived between five and six p.m. Corsages were given to each girl during the social hour. The table featured a lace cloth and nasturtium centerpiece in a crystal bowl. Sandwiches cookies and punch were served with Mesdames Helen Cail and Lecy Sheldon at the punch bowl. Rosalie Whitney and Lorna Petch, Juniors, assisted the hostesses. The Marlin home was decorated with floral arrangements.

Travel and family visits spread across South Texas in a busy week
Mrs M A Storey and daughter Gary and Mrs Clara Storey left for Dallas to visit relatives with plans to stop in Lott Midland and Los Angeles to see daughters and in laws. CWO Stanley Thoroughman of Padre Island Coast Guard remains hospitalized in Brownsville with serious but improving inflammatory condition. Mrs Hugh M Brown of Houston visiting in Port Isabel with sister Francis M Kershaw. Brown arrived May 18.

Graduation ceremonies for the preschool program were held Monday evening in the Junior High School Auditorium. Principal speaker Moixes Vicente Vela addressed the value of education. Father Lawrence J Fanning gave the invocation. The Port Isabel Mariner troop launched a 14 foot fibreglass skiff named Effie at a ceremony at the Red Capstone yard. The boat, gifted by Twin City Fishermen's Co-Op, was christened by Mrs. T. B. Mock who broke the bottle over the bow.
