Lieutenant Governor Preston Smith appointed Senator Bruce Reagan of Corpus Christi to the special interim committee to study Vocational Technical Education during the 60th Legislature. Reagan, owner of an insurance agency, has served 10 years in the Senate and chairs the Banking Committee while holding multiple committee posts. His 20th District covers Cameron, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces and Willacy counties.
Charley L. Goldtrap, 76, a retired airman, died after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife Bunny Goldtrap a sister Mariel Scott of Denver Cole and a nephew John Hammond of Denver. The body is at Thomas Funeral Home in San Benito with funeral services at 2 30 p.m. Friday and burial in Mont Meta Cemetery San Benito.
Miss Michelle Boswell of South Padre Island has enlisted in the U S Navy as a WAVES seaman recruit for three years. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Anderson and previously worked for Laby's of Brownsville. She graduated from Port Isabel High School and is training at Bainbridge Maryland.
The Rev. F L Martin reports a patriotic music program at First Methodist Church Port Isabel. A choral reading I am an American will be performed by youth from Sunday School classes directed by Penelope Martin with Susie Reeves as organist. Congregational singing and a brief sermon follow.

The 1967 Beachcombers Art Show on South Padre Island drew artists from Corpus Christi Fal furrias Aransas Pass Victoria Castroville Hondo Yoakum San Antonio and others across Texas and beyond. Exhibits will be in cabanas and the La Bianca Civic Center with artists including Martin Schaffner Windber Garden Walberg Long Strain Quill and many valley participants.
