Texas Auto Theft Rates Show Gains and Losses in Q1 1972
NATB manager C C Benson reports mixed results across Texas cities in the first quarter of 1972 based on FBI Uniform Crime data. Dallas fell 25.1 percent from 1758 to 1317 auto thefts while El Paso rose 467 percent from 460 to 675, with other cities showing smaller declines or increases. Improved numbers are credited to widespread use of steering column and transmission locks amid public lock your car campaigns.
