Park Board and CCCP Move Stalled After Town Leader Dies
Cameron County Commissioners Court failed to resolve two long-standing issues on July 12 after the death of former county commissioner Tony Tamayo Jr. No park board appointments were made as terms expire, resignations were accepted from Steve Elam and Robert Hurst, and debates continued over the Isla Blanca Park trailer fees. The OEO status and funding were discussed with a March 1974 life extension and a new $180,000 grant noted. A new courthouse and jail complex were also debated with funding questions and location concerns.
