Cameron County sewer project bid date set for Feb 7
Bids for the Cameron County Fresh Water Supply District No 1 sewer project valued at 5 million dollars will be opened at 1 30 p m Feb 7. The district received a 2757914 federal EPA grant to aid area wide sanitary sewerage facilities. Bill Peterson serves as consulting engineer for the three plant project slated for South Padre Island north end and south end locations.

Texas license plates go on sale February 3
Beginning February 1 most Texas drivers will renew annually for five years with a new reflective license plate. Over 9 million renewal notices have been mailed. The 1975 plate costs 44 cents to produce while the 1976 validation tags cost 3 cents each. Some plates still require annual purchases for certain categories. Plates available at the Cameron County Tax Office in San Benito. passenger plates at Merchants Marine Bank in Port Isabel.

Police Probe Two Mishaps In Port Isabel
Two minor collisions were reported in Port Isabel last week. Charley W. McDowell 67 Adriana Missouri was eastbound on Queen Isabella Blvd when Larence E. Pruitt 67 Greenfield Indiana turned onto the boulevard from Masina St failing to yield. Pruitt cited for failure to yield. In a second incident Edgar Jahue Hood 76 Port Isabel allegedly started from a parked position and collided with Adriana Martinez 21 Port Isabel. Hood ticketed for improper start. Advisory Council for Federal Programs will meet Monday January 27 at 7 30 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building on Highway 100.

Larry D. Thompson, South Padre Island Alderman and sales associate at Tompkins Young Real Estate, received his Texas Real Estate Brokers License after completing weeks of study and a state exam.
