A Valley Chamber of Commerce survey shows major projects outside city limits total in the millions. In Port Harlingen area projects exceed 1.2 million, including the Rangerville road TB hospital at 2.5 million and Harlingen AFB improvements at 5 million. Naval Air Station plans near Port Isabel total 5.4 million. Mercedes reports 98 thousand. Weslaco funds a 440 thousand sewer plant. Port Mansfield harbor work tops 2.5 million with Padre Island channel and a causeway. Willacy port upgrades include a new water system and a paved road to serve harbor and park areas. Private development north of Padre Island includes streets utilities and three seaside motels.

Upper Valley Ships Most Produce Over MoPac This Fall
J J Mulholland reports Missouri Pacific lines moved 543 cars of vegetables and 89 cars of fruit through November 30 since the Fall season began. Total 632 carloads, down from 733 a year ago, with shipments mainly from the Upper Valley. Harlingen and La Feria in Cameron county sent mixed fruit and oranges, while Raymondville, Rio Grande City, and Hidalgo county units shipped peppers and vegetables from Willacy and Starr counties.

Accident Victims Recover At Home
Mrs. E. W. Hienze and Mrs. Jack Merryman of Port Isabel are convalescing at home after hospital confinement in San Benito for more than two weeks. Hienze returned Saturday afternoon and Merryman Wednesday. Merryman remains bed confined but can walk briefly with crutches and is likely to use them about two weeks. Mrs. Howard Roberts, a passenger in the collision pickup, remains in the hospital for several more days.
