Extra Care In Wrapping Parcels For Christmas Mail

Postmaster Bobbitt urges extra care in addressing and wrapping mail to ensure prompt delivery by Christmas Eve. Use zone numbers and include extra label inside parcels. three cent postage on cards. write both sender and recipient names and addresses clearly. Mail out of town cards and packages by December 10. local mail should start at least a week before Christmas.

Dependents of Service Personnel Eligible for Civilian Medical Care

Dependents of servicemen and servicewomen become eligible December 7 this year for civilian medical care under Public Law 569 with the federal government paying private physicians and hospital bills. Brig. General L Helmes Ginn notes Texas doctors’ fees will be paid by the Fort Sam Houston Finance Officer. Bills from Texas hospitals handled by the Mutual Benefit Health and Accident Association in Omaha. The administration forms will be mailed to Texas hospitals. physicians may obtain forms from listed sources. Fourth Army HQ will oversee the law in Texas for all uniformed services' physician fees. Eligible members include those on active duty more than 30 days across Army Navy Air Force Marines Coast Guard Health Service.

Christmas Plans Talked At C Of C Meet

Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce members formed a community welfare committee to coordinate Christmas aid. Delegates J L Merryman and Fred A Gonzales will liaise with civic groups to recruit volunteers. The Volunteer Firemen plan a bingo on December 14 to fund the Christmas tree effort.

Mrs. Santos Holland Dies at 88 in Port Isabel Home

Mrs. Santos Holland, 88, died Monday November 26 at her daughter’s home in Port Isabel after a long illness. She married in Port Isabel in 1888 at age 20 and lived there most of her life. Funeral services were held November 27 at Delta Funeral Home in Brownsville with Father Lawrence J. Fanning officiating. burial followed in Port Isabel cemetery.

Sunday fishing near the jetty produced catches including E A Louis Aaron Springer and Tony Wilson of Harlingen with 21 redfish. Doc McRill and Jerry Freeman logged 20 trout, Henry Weckrely and Jody Goolsby 16 trout, David Meyn and Jerry Morris 9 redfish 3 trout and 9 drum, and M I R Bledsec 9 trout.
