Lester Travis 78 of Fairbury died Monday at Fairbury Hospital after three days as a patient. Funeral services were held today at Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Nelson officiating. Burial in Graceland Cemetery. Born July 1, 1887 in Belle Prairie Township to William and Courtney Travis. Married Warel Buller September 29, 1928 at Fairbury. He was a lifelong farmer in Belle Prairie Township. Surviving: wife five daughters Goldie Carlson Betty Wharton and others.

Dr. Michael Alexander, 48, an assistant professor of finance at De Paul University's college of commerce, died Sunday after falling from his 21st floor apartment. He was found on the roof of a one-story garage at 1150 N. Lake Shore Drive. the apartment door was double locked, bolted, and chained. Alexander, a native of Bulgaria, lived alone and had joined De Paul in September.
