Dwight business man Ralph H. Groll announces Republican bid for justice of the peace in Livingston County District One. He has previously served as a justice of the peace and in local civic roles.
The text notes a Dwight township justice of the peace since April 1954, reelected in April 1857, and lists the four new county districts including Dwight and several townships. It names towns within the district and lists a 1961 election date, April 4. It also mentions Jersey Island in the English Channel having the highest incidence of primary lung cancer and higher tobacco consumption there than in Britain.
Funeral services for Sidney Chamberlain aged 80 were held at the Raleigh J. Harris funeral home with Rev. Eugene Wisely officiating. Burial followed at South Side cemetery. Organist Mrs. Ethel Marvel played. pallbearers listed. In Flanagan, the Loyal Builders class and Christian church high school class hosted a Christmas program at Livingston county home, gifting residents and planning a nursery table purchase and $50 donations to the St. Louis orphanage.
The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion hall Wednesday at 8 p.m. with 18 members present. Marie Riccolo led the business session, donations were made to the Salvation Army TE Christmas seals and gifts for children at Illinois Soldiers' and Sailors' School Normal. The unit voted to sponsor the Mothers March for the Polio Foundation in January. A committee was appointed to plan a dinner December 21 for VA hospital employees.
Funeral services for Moritz Roth aged 97 were conducted at 10 30 am Thursday at the Raleigh J Eugene with Wisely officiating Burial followed at Pleasant View cemetery in Kewanee Located at 804 North Division street Roth died Tuesday The report also notes a substance linked to several cancer types not found in normal tissues

William Z Ahrends was elected president of the Pontiac Sportsman's Club at the December meeting. Elected officers include Frank Elberts as vice president Gene Bipsch as secretary Glenn Schwartz as treasurer Gerald Ryerson director for three years Robert Fahsbender for two years and John Ripsch for one year Louis Paul is executive secretary.
