Cornell residents and families staged holiday visits and events across nearby towns. Social groups met for a polluck supper and Red Cross packing at Reno Barton’s home while students planned a Christmas party with a gift exchange at Cornell high school.
Cornell Grade School will present a one act operetta based on Dickens Christmas Carol titled A Christmas Story by Charles George. The program, directed by Phillip A Murphy, music instructor, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday Dec 20 in the school gym. Funeral services for Miss Rozella Shaughnessy 54 former Pontiac resident who died Sunday at a Kan-kakee hospital were held at St Mary Catholic church with Rev J T Shields officiating. Burial was in St Mary cemetery pallbearers included John Fitzgerald James Close James Morris James Speirer Lewis Mays and James Hayner.
