A Livingston County National Farmers Organization meeting at the Pontiac National Bank community room drew 65 attendees. The group voted to hold a banquet and the grain board signed up a train for the grain bank. A social hour followed the meeting.
McDowell Methodist Church Women’s Society of Christian Service met Thursday for a pot luck dinner and meeting in the church fellowship rooms. Devotions were led by Mrs. Mary Pflager with meditation on I Wish a Merry Christmas. Plans include a Jan 11 pancake and sausage day bazaar and sending 30 dozen cookies to airmen. next meeting Jan 4.
Four women at Winston Churchill College are candidates for Winter Princess of the annual Christmas Ball Saturday evening at the Palomar Supper Club. Candidates and sponsors include Car ol Chamberlain Girls Dormitory Good man House Mary Helen Gassensmith Tucker House and Judy Thomas Boys Dorm. The dinner dance is sponsored by the Student Senate and includes Lenny King Orchestra from 9 p.m. to midnight with voting today and the winner announced at the dance.
Police arrested an ex employee after two guard dogs at a Vienna trucking firm failed to distinguish friend from foe. The thief slipped away with stolen tires and an investigator was attacked while responding to the break in.
Xi Delta Iota sorority met at the Palomar Supper Club where Mrs. Mary Lee Raube gave a program on education at high school and college levels. The group donated to the Tuberculosis Association for Christmas seals and planned the annual Christmas party.
Mr. and Mrs. James Waters observed their 40th anniversary with a family dinner at the Elms in El Paso, mailed from Fairbury. They have five children and 12 grandchildren with one great grandchild. The couple wed in Fairbury with the late Rev. J. G. Rockenbach officiating.
