The United Methodist Women plan a general meeting on Wednesday December 13 at 1 30 p m in the Asbury room with an executive board gathering at 1 o’clock led by president Mrs Robert McWhorter. Christmas Music and Memories will be directed by Mrs Roy Vertrees and Mrs Thomas Viemont. Members will share a Christmas memory. Mrs Rondell Dodson will prepare the altar. Fidelity Circle hosts with Mrs William Daniels chair.
The engagement of Miss Jan E Harms and John A Hock was announced by her parents from Long Point. Hock is son of Robert Hock Sr of Minonk, Harms studies licensed practical nursing in Streator, both graduates of Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School. The wedding is planned for Jan 19 1973. Esther Jean Gilrith 60 wife of Dr Robert R Gilruth space pioneer and former center chief died Sunday of a heart attack.

Mr and Mrs Jerome Schickendanz host weekend guests for Mrs Craig Milligan’s Dec 10 birthday. Miss Beth Dunham makes Lakeland College Dean’s List. Adelle Condon and Leona Chapman listed as patients at Peoria and Normal hospitals respectively. Orville Asper returns from a deer hunt in Pennsylvania.

Funeral services for Walter Redfern 81 of Cornell were held at Winterrowd Funeral Home Streator with the Rev. Gilbert T. Fletcher officiating. He is survived by one brother three nephews and three nieces. A World War I veteran born July 25 1891 he lived in the Streator Cornell area all his life and was a retired farmer. Burial was in Long Point cemetery.
