McDowell WSCS Holds Meeting and Potluck

McDowell Women's Society of Christian Service met at the McDowell Methodist Church home of Mrs. Ben Neubauer on December 1 with fifteen members and two guests attending. The lesson on The Real Purpose of Christmas was given by Mrs. Mary Pflager, organ music by Mrs. Ben Neubauer, prayers led by Mrs. Edna Sheldon, and devotions by Mrs. Pflager. Mrs. Lorena Tavener presided. reports were read by Mrs. Erma Dahl and Mrs. Nellie Mae Smith. The group voted to send candy boxes to church students and service men and to give Christmas gifts to five Livingston County Nursing Home residents. A bazaar and food sale will be combined with sausage and pancake day on January 12. Committee chairs: Morrison, Tavener, Frahees Neubauer, Barnes, Ruff, Ellinger. Starlight Church group meets in Flanagan

Flanagan The Starlight Group of the Christian Church met at Mrs Johnie Goodins home with nine members present. Evelyn Dawson led the business and worship, K C Zehren reported on the executive meeting, and Joseph Estes gave a lesson on Canadian and American relations. Each member shared a Christmas custom from another country. Lunch was served by Mrs Goodin. Ernest Koopman from Waverly Iowa visited his mother Mrs Elizabeth Koopman and the Park family. Howard Cotter announced an adult meeting on aphids for Dec 15 at Flanagan High School. Kenny Simpson remains a patient at St James Hospital Pontiac after breaking his ankle outdoors.

Chenoa St Pauls Choir Plans Christmas Concert

The St Pauls Lutheran adult and junior choirs in Chenoa will perform their annual Christmas concert on Sunday December 11 at 3pm. Conducted by Mrs Gilbert Pils and Miss Pamela Heins, with Mrs Fred Rhoda and Mrs August Lubkeman as accompanists. The Rev August Lubkeman will deliver Christmas Meditations and lead prayers. The program features numerous carols including Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful, with solo performances by Ramona Schuler and Verne Erdman. Open to the public.
