Owego 4 H Club Plans A Winter Basketball Team

Roger Edwards presided at the Owego Get Em 4H meeting with 22 members and six guests at the town hall. John Neubauer presented the secretary report. The club decided to form a basketball team this winter and announced an achievement meeting on January 3. Talks by Jimmy Wellenreiter and Gladys Oltman, plus Mary Bruer and Jane Kennedy entertainment and recreation led by Neubauer and Fecht. Refreshments were served by the Edwards and Kennedy families.

Mies Herd Tops October Dairy Group in Livingston County

Leslie Mies of Fairbury led the Livingston County Dairy Herd Improvement Assn in October with 17 Holstein cows producing 48.0 pounds of milk and 1.71 pounds of butterfat daily. The 40 herds tested averaged 30.4 pounds of milk and 1.16 pounds of butterfat from 1,081 cows, 16 percent dry. Other high producers included Martin Jensen Dwight and Fred Kyburz Chatsworth among numerous Holstein herds and related listings.
