Revised Illinois 4-H Handicraft Projects For 1967
The Illinois 4-H Handicraft program expands for 1967 with nine new project areas including wood ceramics leather metal mosaic printing weaving reed craft and sittery. Over 11 000 youths are enrolled and manuals with materials lists and project examples will be released starting January and through spring. Training schools for leaders are planned with Barbara Fisher guiding a Monticello workshop for 29 participants who will help with district meetings in January 1967 sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension Service and the Sears Foundation via the Illinois 4-H Club Foundation Inc.

County Dairy Group Ranks High in State
Livingston County ranks ninth in Illinois dairy production among 56 Dairy Herd Improvement Associations. Of 25 herds on test with 799 cows, average outputs were 42 279 pounds of milk and 474 pounds of butterfat at 209 dollars feed cost per cow and 289 dollars return above feed cost. 35 percent of cows are in a record keeping program, double the state average. Notable producers include Russell Tambling of Dwight with a 21 620 pound milk yield and 901 butterfat Brown Swiss, and Roeschley Bros. of Flanagan with a 10 412 pound milk and 508 butterfat Guernsey herd. With several Holstein herds in the 500 pounds butterfat honor roll, including Fred Kyburz of Chatsworth and Eldon Pearson & Sons of Pontiac.
